Bali - March 2009 (Part I)

Day 1: Arrival

We arrived in Bali at 5pm and checked into our hotel at 8pm. Since our hotel was in the middle of no where, we decided to stay in after dinner.

So, why did we choose to stay in Ubud for our honeymoon? Ubud is very relax as compared to the town of Kuta and Seminyak. Plenty of things to do there and places to visit. Here is a description from Google on Ubud

"The town of Ubud, in the uplands of Bali, Indonesia, is known as a center for traditional crafts and dance. The surrounding Ubud District’s rainforest and terraced rice paddies, dotted with Hindu temples and shrines, are among Bali’s most iconic landscapes. Ancient holy sites include the Tirta Empul temple complex, intricately carved Goa Gajah (“Elephant Cave”) and Gunung Kawi with its rock-cut shrines"

Day 2: Sightseeing @ Pura Tirta Empul

Since we hired a driver to drive us around our 4 days in Bali, We had no problem going around. Ubud is pretty secluded and the drive to the hotel is about 1 hour away from airport and town.. We also visited the Kuta Beach, Tanah Lot and went shopping in Seminyak.

@ Kuta Beach and Hard Rock Cafe

@ Tanah Lot

Enjoying the sunset in Tanah Lot :)

 Day 3: Nyeppi Day

We had the experienced Nyeppi Day during our stay in Bali. According to Wikipedia "Nyepi is a Balinese "Day of Silence" that is commemorated every Isakawarsa (Saka new year) according to the Balinese calendar (in 2016, it falls on March 9). It is a Hindu celebration mainly celebrated in BaliIndonesia. Nyepi, a public holiday in Indonesia, is a day of silence, fasting and meditation for the Balinese:

Since we are not allowed out of the hotel on Nyepi Day, we spend the whole day enjoying the hotel facilities.

Day 4: Last minute shopping in Ubud
